Belvedere Suites occupies a choice location in the cliffside overlooking the caldera in the town of Firostefani. Like all hotels in the caldera, the whitewashed walls of the property are scattered over several different levels connected by a maze of steps. Somewhat unusual in this area though, are the covered corridors which make the property feel like an architectural midpoint between the cave-style caldera hotels and a modern building.
The 31 rooms here are simple but modern with stylish touches such as feature lamps, stone basins, designer stools, tufted headboards and rain showers in the bathrooms. Most have sea views. The swimming pool is a highlight, with a handful of comfortable loungers surrounding the deck and a convenient pool bar, both of which offer expansive views of the sea.
We found the highlight of Belvedere Suites to be the property’s location. The views out to the sea are exactly what visitors to Santorini dream of, and the convenient location within Firostefani means everything is within easy walking distance.

Rooms
Most rooms in the Belvedere adhere to more modern architectural patterns, instead of the domed ceiling, cave-style rooms typical of hotels in the caldera. While like all hotels on the cliffside, some of the rooms can be small, they are all modern and decorated in bright white tones that make the most of the Mediterranean light. Bathrooms are outfitted with rain showers, and rooms offer modern conveniences such as Wi-Fi, plasma TV and air conditioning.
Location
The hotel is built into the cliffside of the caldera in Firostefani. The location in the caldera means the property cannot be accessed by car but there are plenty of things to walk to and explore surrounding the property both in Firostefani and Fira, two villages which have grown to become one long stretch of hotels, shops and restaurants.
Food and drink
Breakfast is served by the pool in the mornings in a small seating area offering panoramic sea views from its vantage point up on the cliff. Later in the day, the pool bar serves light refreshments. In the evening, guests have the choice of many restaurants and cafés within walking distance and staff will be happy to make recommendations depending on your preferences.
Facilities and activities
The pool at Belvedere Suites is larger than many of the other caldera hotels and affords guests dramatic views of the sea. Guests are welcome to use the spa facilities at the hotel’s sister property in Fira, El Greco.
