The exceptional food served on the Deccan Odyssey is one of its strengths. There are two restaurants, both offering multiple options at each course. Soup is often one of the starters and choices for main courses include Thali dishes and western options as well as both western and traditional Indian desserts. Vegetarians are well catered for too. Whether exploring a city, searching for tigers in a national park or enjoying local markets, guests are accompanied by one of the train’s friendly, experienced guides who have good spoken English. Private guides can be booked in advance for specific days (at extra cost) and guests in Presidential Suites have private excursions throughout. There is also a spa on board to unwind and each guest is offered a complimentary 30 minute massage.

Our opinion

This luxurious train is a fantastic way to explore parts of India that are otherwise hard to reach. The service is fantastic and the food superb.
