Itinerary idea in detail

Includes international flights from a choice of UK airports, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Jakarta.

  • You will be met on arrival in Jakarta by your guide, who will transfer you to your hotel.

  • Get a taste of Jakarta, one of the largest cities in the world, with a half day city tour with a local guide.

  • Today you head back to the airport for your flight to Yogyakarta — look out for the famous Mount Merapi on your way into land. When you arrive you will be met at the airport by your guide and driver and will head straight to the temple district of Prambanan. After your tour you will head to Phoenix Hotel where you will spend the next three nights.

  • Rise early for a sunrise trip to Borobudur — sure to be a highlight of your time away. Settle down on the ancient relic and soak up the atmosphere of this remarkable site, built in the 8th century and only rediscovered in 1814. Enjoy your afternoon at leisure.

  • Take a guided tour of Jogja today, visiting the Sultan's Palace and learning about the history of Java's most traditional regency.

  • It's time for the relaxation part of your Hidden Java trip — you'll head to the coastal town of Semarang where you catch your flight over to Kura Kura Resort. Enjoy this island paradise for the next four luxurious nights.

  • Today you'll head back to Java where you will enjoy an overnight stop in Semarang before heading east tomorrow.

  • Enjoy the sights and scenes of Semarang today with a city tour before your afternoon train to Surabaya. When you arrive in Surabaya you will be met at the train station and taken to your hotel, enjoy a Chinese meal in the restaurant at the Majapahit: it's highly recommended.

  • Head to Surabaya's spice markets this morning during your tour of the city before heading to the cooler climates of Mount Bromo. Enjoy the scenic views en route and why not stop for lunch along the way — your guide will suggest some local places to stop (usually a simple service station).

  • Rise early to see one of the most spectacular sights in Southeast Asia — sunrise over Mount Bromo. You will then take the train across eastern Java to the furthest tip of the island where you will spend a couple of days exploring Ijen National Park.

  • Trek up Mount Ijen and see the sulphur lakes before then visiting the fishing villages and plantations that are scattered around the area.

  • Today you will cross over to Bali and take a journey down to Kerambitan for your last evening.

  • Relax this morning at your hotel, before you travel south to the airport in time for your flight home.

  • Arrive home today to complete your journey.
