Patria Palace Hotel

Patria Palace Hotel

Lecce, Italy

Well located within the heart of Baroque Lecce, Patria Palace sits just opposite the intricate stone façade of the Basilica di Santa Croce. From the piazza, wood panelled revolving doors welcome guests into the historic building that today houses the hotel. The style throughout is an old-world, traditional Italian theme. Black leather sofas compliment polished wood details and marble floors in a traditional lobby lounge area. Throughout the property, the features of the original palace can still be seen in details from the vaulted ceilings to the historic façade.

Rooms throughout the hotel follow the same traditional style with brocade fabrics and jewel-toned carpeting. Some of the rooms have picturesque views out over the Baroque rooftops of Lecce and the Basilica di Santa Croce. There is also a restaurant offering a sophisticated version of local cuisine with a small outdoor seating area on the piazza in good weather.

OUR OPINION:

We like the traditional old-world style of the Patria Palace for guests looking to stay in the heart of Lecce. The Basilica facing rooms have some of the best views we have found in Lecce.

Rooms

The 67 rooms at Patria Palace are decorated in a traditional style which features brocade fabrics and jewel-toned carpets against polished wood furnishings. However light walls and large windows allow plenty of Pugliese sunlight in and keep the fabrics from feeling heavy. Some rooms offer a balcony overlooking the city and others boast views onto the Basilica of Santa Croce and the rooftops of Lecce. All rooms offer Wi-Fi and air conditioning.

Location

Ideally located in the middle of the Baroque section of Lecce, guests at Patria Palace are well situated to explore the sights of the city. Directly across from the hotel sits the Baroque façade of the Basilica of Santa Croce. The Lecce’s cathedral as well as a number of good restaurants are all within easy walking distance.

Food and drink

The hotel’s restaurant, Atenze, offers an innovative take on traditional local cuisine and is popular with both guests of the hotel and external visitors. A traditional Italian breakfast buffet of fruits, pastries, meats and cheeses is served in the mornings in the ground floor breakfast room. Later in the day Danny’s Bar serves up drinks in a comfortable lounge area with tufted black leather chairs and sofas or outside on the street overlooking the Basilica.
