The Shimaya is a simple ryokan with just 12 Japanese-style rooms, nine of which have their own private bath and toilet.
Aburaya Tousen, Yudanaka, Japan
One of the more luxurious ryokans in Yudanaka, the Aburaya Tousen Ryokan is a great place to unwind after a day of walking and exploring — the open-air bathrooms are particularly good for this.
All baths are filled with the natural hot-spring waters of the area which are known to have a variety of healing properties. The rooms are of the traditional Japanese style, with futon beds on the tatami mat floors, which will give an authentic experience to any stay.

Alternative places to stay nearby
Where possible, we like to offer a range of accommodation for each stop of your trip, chosen by our specialists as some of their favourite places to stay. To help you make the right choice, we give each property a rating based on its facilities and service, but we also look for hotels with distinct character or a location that can’t be bettered.
