Itinerary idea in detail

Includes international flights from a choice of UK airports, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Chiang Rai.

  • Arriving into Chiang Rai you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel, with the rest of the day at leisure to relax after your flight.

  • This morning your guide and driver will take you to Huay Xai, where you cross the border into Laos and board the Luang Say boat. The rest of the day is spent cruising down the mighty Mekong River. This relaxing journey is a fantastic way to see the Laos countryside and get under the skin of this laid back country.

  • You depart Pakbeng and continue to cruise down river. En route you can visit the Pak Ou caves before reaching the UNESCO town of Luang Prabang.

  • This morning your guide and driver will take you on a tour of this charming town visiting some of the many temples and National Museum. In the afternoon your guide and driver will take you outside of the town to visit the scenic Kuang Si Waterfalls — remember to take your swimming kit so that you can have a dip in the refreshing pools. Also nearby and worth a visit is a bear sanctuary.

  • The morning is free to spend at your leisure. You then travel by road north of Luang Prabang to Nong Khiaw where you can see some of the beautiful Laos countryside.

  • Travel upstream to Muang Ngoi where you disembark for a walk around the countryside and visit one of the local villages. This is a great chance to learn more about some of the various ethnic minority groups that live in Laos.

  • Travelling by boat you can enjoy some of Laos's beautiful scenery en route to Luang Prabang.

  • Day at leisure in Luang Prabang. This is a chance to relax or explore the town further.

  • This morning you have a private transfer to the airport for your flight to Siem Reap.

  • Rising early your guide will show you around Ta Prohm — seeing this 'lost to the jungle' temple at this time lessens the chances of sharing the experience with lots of other tour groups. The rest of the day you can explore the temple complex of Angkor Thom and the stone faced covered temple, the Bayon. Your day will finish with a visit to the most majestic temple of them all, Angkor Wat.

  • Today you have a day trip to see the jungle covered Beng Melea and the intricate carvings of Banteay Srei.

  • You have a private transfer by road to the capital city, Phnom Penh. En route you can see local life in Cambodia and stop at any point to take photographs.

  • Today you have a full day exploring Phnom Penh's cultural and historical sights accompanied by your guide and driver. Sights include the National Museum and harrowing killing fields.

  • You have a private transfer (driver only) to the remote area of the Cardamom Mountains. The last part of your journey will be by speedboat as the area is inaccessible by car.

  • Enjoy time at leisure at 4 Rivers — there will be a range of activities for you to choose from and pay for at the lodge on the day.

  • Departing the resort by boat once more, you meet your car at the bridge and continue by road into Thailand and the pier for the boat to Koh Samet. The car journey will take approximately six hours. On this idyllic island you can relax before returning home.

  • Day at leisure.

  • Day to relax by the beach.

  • Day at leisure.

  • You have a boat transfer to the mainland where you continue by road to Bangkok Airport for your flight home.

  • Arrive home today to complete your journey.
