Arriving at the Setam Lodge on the edge of Ranomafana National Park, the first thing you will notice (providing it is daylight!) are the magnificent views of the mountains and rainforest.

The lodge has been built to make the most of its location, so the restaurant has huge windows to allow in as much of the view as possible and all of the rooms have small terraces facing down over the valley. In the warmer months, lunch is often taken outside the restaurant so that you can enjoy the view and fresh air.

Guests first come to the main lodge building housing the bar and restaurant. From here stone steps lead up the hillside to ten chalets, each containing two bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. The décor of the rooms is fairly simple; as the lodge is built in the middle of the forest, the ceilings, wardrobes, desks and beds are all made from pine, and the walls are painted white. The rooms have everything you will need, though not much beyond this, but they are spotlessly clean, and have heaters for the cooler winter months.
