The Royal Palissandre
The Royal Palissandre, Antananarivo, Madagascar
The Royal Palissandre is a small hotel located on the edge of a hill in the Lower Town of Tana. The views over the capital are spectacular, particularly at sunset when the evening rays light up all the different coloured houses.
There are 46 rooms, arranged over three floors. All the rooms are spacious and comfortable. They have polished wooden floors, a double bed (and often a third bed for a child), satellite television, mini bar and direct dial telephone. There are sparkling en-suite bathrooms with bath and shower.
The hotel has a beautiful square swimming pool with sundeck overlooking Tana and leading off from the pool is a gym and beautiful spa (open from 9am to 9pm with very reasonable prices).
There is a bar and restaurant which is situated on a terrace overlooking the city from here you can watch and hear the hustle and bustle of the capital pass by, whilst still enjoying the calm and peaceful atmosphere of this lovely hotel.
The food is a la carte and includes local specialities as well as fine French food.

Alternative places to stay nearby
Where possible, we like to offer a range of accommodation for each stop of your trip, chosen by our specialists as some of their favourite places to stay. To help you make the right choice, we give each property a rating based on its facilities and service, but we also look for hotels with distinct character or a location that can’t be bettered.
Experiences while staying here
The following activities are designed to give you the most authentic experiences of the area where you’re staying. We work with local guides, who use their knowledge and often a resident’s eye to show you the main sights and more out-of-the-way attractions. Our specialists can also suggest outdoor pursuits and activities, such as cooking classes, that will introduce you to the traditions of the area’s inhabitants.
A guide will take you on a full days tour of Antananarivo and the surrounds. The exact route of the tour and how long it takes varies depending on what you would like to see.
