Dulini Safari Lodge

Sabi Sands Game Reserve, South Africa

Dulini Safari Lodge is one of three Dulini properties occupying wonderful spots in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve bordering the Kruger. Set beneath ebony and leadwood trees, the lodge has just six luxury suites set along the Mabrak River, ensuring an intimate, highly personal stay with plenty of privacy. Each stone-and-thatch suite is beautifully decorated in a tasteful colonial style and has a plunge pool facing the river.

Twice-daily game drives are taken by knowledgeable rangers and trackers, all with a passion for the area many of them grew up in. To further enhance a stay at Dulini, you can also enjoy guided bush walks and night drives through the reserve.

OUR OPINION:

We believe Dulini Safari Lodge is one of the most intimate and romantic of all the lodges in the Sabi Sands. The presence of the river around the lodge means the game viewing here is second to none, and the suites are very spacious and luxuriously furnished.

Rooms

Dulini Safari Lodge has six luxurious stone-and-thatch suites situated under a leafy canopy overlooking the Mabrak River. Each of the suites is air-conditioned and has an en suite bathroom and outdoor shower area. You'll also have your own private deck complete with small plunge pool where you can relax between game drives. The lodge can arrange for private massages and meals to be enjoyed in your suite.

Location

The lodge benefits from excellent game viewing due to its setting on a bend of the Mabrak River. It’s not unusual to spot animals from the main raised deck, with views across the reserve. Set within Sabi Sands Game Reserve, the lodge is just 2 km (1.2 miles) from the Sands River, popular with plains game and as such, predators too. It's possible to drive to the lodge, though some may prefer to fly straight into Skukuza Airport, just over an hour’s drive away, or the local Ulusaba airstrip.

Food and drink

Guests dine communally, swapping stories of the day’s adventures, and are treated to African-influenced cuisine. As much care has been taken with the food as with any other element of the lodge. Meals might be served on the main viewing deck under the mighty jackalberry tree, or down in the atmospheric boma around the fire. Dulini also boasts an impressive wine cellar, well-stocked with South African options to try during your stay.

Families

Children eight years and older are welcome at Dulini, and can join in on game drives. However, there are no specific activities here for younger guests.

Facilities and activities

Activities are varied, including game drives, bush walks and night drives, accompanied by expert guides and Shangaan trackers. You'll enjoy at least two drives each day to give you the best chance of seeing nocturnal creatures and those roaming the reserve while the sun shines. Back at the lodge, you can make use of a well-appointed gym, pool and curio shop.
