This walking tour of Cambridge will introduce you to top local haunts and some of the best food the city has to offer, while also giving you a feel for this university town. The tour involves around 5 km (3 miles) of walking over the course of three and a half hours.

Each tour is slightly different depending on dietary requirements, seasonality and the day you’re there. However, there are always around eight stops with multiple tastings in some places. You’ll likely get to try a Chelsea bun — a rolled pastry similar to a cinnamon bun but made with raisins and glazed using a traditional cold-water technique that makes it a little sweeter. For more adventurous eaters, you’ll have a chance to try a Scotch egg. A picnic staple since the 1700s, the dish consists of a hardboiled egg, wrapped in sausage meat, covered in breadcrumbs and then deep fried. Other tasting options include handmade Sicilian pizza, slow-cooked meat, local cheeses and fresh fudge.
