Rooms
Rooms and suites are all en suite and tastefully furnished with muted tones and tartan blankets. The whisky theme continues here, with some beds having headboards shaped like stills, and pictures of the production process adorning the walls. Each of the suites is named after a local distillery, and guests staying in one of these will receive a complimentary decanter of whisky on arrival. Guest rooms have a shower only, whilst suites contain both a shower and a bath. All rooms feature coffee machines, HD TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Location
The property is located in the small town of Rothes, which is situated on the banks of the River Spey. Rothes is a functional town with a number of small shops and cafés, and the ruins of a castle. It takes around an hour to drive to the north of the Cairngorms National Park (to Aviemore and Rothiemurchus), and just over an hour to Inverness.
Food and drink
There are two options for dining in The Station Hotel, as well as The Spirit Safe whisky bar which offers small appetizers. Pagodas is the hotel’s main restaurant, which offers contemporary Scottish cuisine in an elegant, wood-panelled room. Toot’s Café Bar & Bistro is a public bar, serving coffee, snacks and bar meals, and often has a lively atmosphere at weekends.
Facilities and activities
Whisky and gin tastings can be arranged through the hotel, as well as VIP tours of local distilleries.
