Our favourite place to stay in the centre of Merida, Posada Casa Sol is a charming and friendly place with a lovely colonial feel to it.
Hosteria La Sevillana
Hosteria La Sevillana, Merida, Venezuela
A beautiful little hideaway only a half hour drive away from the centre of Merida at the base of the mountains. The 12 wooden-beamed colonial rooms are set around a stunning Mediterranean style courtyard full of tropical plants and flowers. Excellent home cooked food is served round a large dining table in the main house. Trails lead from the hotel up into The Paramo and they can arrange horseriding around the area. The Hosteria also offers a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room and massages (including aromotherapy) by appointment.

Alternative places to stay nearby
Where possible, we like to offer a range of accommodation for each stop of your trip, chosen by our specialists as some of their favourite places to stay. To help you make the right choice, we give each property a rating based on its facilities and service, but we also look for hotels with distinct character or a location that can’t be bettered.
Experiences while staying here
The following activities are designed to give you the most authentic experiences of the area where you’re staying. We work with local guides, who use their knowledge and often a resident’s eye to show you the main sights and more out-of-the-way attractions. Our specialists can also suggest outdoor pursuits and activities, such as cooking classes, that will introduce you to the traditions of the area’s inhabitants.
Spend some time exploring the cathedral, market, museums and colonial centre of Merida including, of course, a trip to the famous heladeria with its myriad of ice cream flavours to try. You then travel west with your guide out into the foothills for great views across the Andean mountains and back to the city.
