Erongo Wilderness Lodge blends well into its natural setting among the peaceful valley’s granite boulders and mountainous backdrop.
The main building has a traditional, rustic style, with the round, thatched building offering high ceilings, stone walls and characterful African touches throughout, such as tribal masks and dreamcatchers. Here you can relax in the open-plan lounge and restaurant, keeping warm beside the central fireplace in the winter or enjoying food and drink out on the wooden deck in fine weather.
The dining area overlooks a floodlit waterhole that often attracts wildlife, and there’s a pool where you can cool off after exploring in the sun.
Erongo Wilderness Lodge is beautifully unspoilt — it’s easy to imagine life here hundreds of years ago. We recommend visiting Paula's Cave to see the rock art; you can also watch rock hyraxes scampering around.

Rooms
The lodge has just ten tented chalets, built on wooden stilts in the hills. Their glass double doors open out onto furnished, shaded decking, providing guests with plenty of space for enjoying the surrounding mountain scenery. Each chalet is tucked away in its own niche among the rocks, ensuring peace, privacy and an air of exclusivity. They feature large double beds and en suite bathrooms, which are crafted around the existing rocks and trees beneath thatched roofs. Large windows ensure plenty of natural light, and there are also lamps to brighten the tents at night. Raised lit walkways and natural stone steps connect the chalets to the main area.
Location
Erongo Wilderness Lodge is located amid the striking granite formations of the Erongo Mountains. The mountains are flanked by the Namib Desert to the west and mixed-woodland savannah to the east, forming a rare confluence of ecosystems that provide habitats for a wide array of plant, reptile, mammal and bird species.
Food and drink
Delicious, hearty meals are served in the main communal area or out on the wooden deck, where an open fire provides warmth and an authentic camp atmosphere in the evenings. Here you can also sit with a sundowner after dinner and watch the sunset. Breakfasts consist of fresh bread and pastries and are a peaceful time to take in the beautiful scenery.
Facilities and activities
The pool is set among boulders and green foliage. You can sit out on the lodge’s deck and look out over the waterhole, where porcupines can be spotted. Activities include walks led by guides with excellent knowledge of the local flora, fauna and culture. You can also see ancient rock art at nearby Paula’s Cave. Nature drives give you the chance to see a wide variety of animals, birds and plants.
