In 1922 Jimmy Simpson, a young Scottish mountaineer, trapper and mountain guide, built a simple hut here and called it Num-Ti-Jah. Later, rooms were added, and it became a simple rustic lodge for early explorers and tourists to Canada’s Rocky Mountains. The lodge continued to operate until 2019; now it has owners who are breathing new life into this wonderful old building. Step across the threshold and enter an interior of hand-hewn logs, magnificent stone fireplaces and windows that frame lovely lake views. Stylish modern furniture comfortably complements the historic charm of the sitting and dining rooms. A stay at The Lodge at Bow Lake is a chance to step away from the connected busyness of modern life. Lack of connectivity and televisions helps to concentrate your time and attention on the magnificent mountain landscape all around.
This is a simple and atmospheric base for those seeking rest and immersion in the wilderness of Canada’s Rocky Mountains.

Rooms
There are 17 simple modern guest rooms, each with a queen-size bed and a smart contemporary shower room. The Whitebark Pine rooms are cosy and compact, while the Fireweed rooms are more spacious and come with a daybed sofa.
Location
Bow Lake lies in the heart of Banff National Park and The Lodge at Bow Lake enjoys expansive lake and mountain views. The lodge is also easily accessed, being located just off Icefields Parkway, one of Canada's most scenic highways. The lodge is just a 30-minute drive from Lake Louise and is the perfect hub for exploring the Icefields Parkway, Lake Louise and Yoho National Park.
Food and drink
All meals and non-alcoholic drinks are included, and the lodge has a strict no tipping policy. A hearty breakfast is served each morning at 8am and a packed lunch is provided so you can explore the great outdoors without going hungry. Afternoon snacks are served each day followed, at 6.30pm, by a four-course set-menu dinner. The convivial bar is a popular spot to gather before or after dinner, or you may prefer a leisurely stroll by the lake.
Environmental and social responsibility
There are dozens of hiking trails around the lodge, and on Bow Lake itself you can try catch and release fishing or kayaking. This land has been home to indigenous peoples for hundreds of years, and the owners have worked closely with members of the Treaty 7 Council to continue the stewardship and heritage of this part of their territory.
