Nestled in the tranquillity of the mountains in Monteverde the Fonda Vela Hotel is 1,400 metres above sea level providing a refreshing climate, often referred to as "eternal spring".
The elevation of the hotel provides spectacular views across the Gulf of Nicoya — on a clear day — and the 35 acres of surrounding forests and pastures provide excellent birding and hiking. There are 40 rooms in nine separate buildings which are quirkily but comfortably furnished with TV, minibar and views to the rainforest or the Gulf.
The Junior Suites are slightly newer and more spacious with bathtub. The onsite restaurant has an excellent reputation and the hotel is one of the only properties in the Cloud Forest region to have a swimming pool.
