La Leona Eco Lodge

La Leona Eco Lodge, a cluster of 20 raised tents, sits at the edge of the Corcovado National Park with spectacular views to the Pacific.

Set in a private reserve and still owned by a local family, there is a strong emphasis on ecotourism and sustainability with just solar-powered lights and candles to light the way in the evenings and a great emphasis on reducing the environmental impact. Each tent is furnished simply with comfortable mattresses, mosquito nets and a private terrace, many overlooking the pristine black sand beach.

All meals at the lodge are included and eaten family-style in the on-site restaurant, and would be described as local and hearty rather than gourmet. Whilst at the lodge there are a number of excursions available to book locally, ranging from a trek through the Corcovado National Park to night-time walks to observe nocturnal fauna. However, even relaxing at the lodge you are likely to see a great range of wildlife, including monkeys, macaws and even tapir.
