Villa Florencia is a simple property that has been developed from an old family home. The owners worked at CATIE (the local, and world-renowned, biological research centre) for years before taking on this project. Their vision was to create a hotel that was comfortable but as fully self sustainable as possible and have done a fantastic job.
The rooms are all comfortable, and there is a lovely junior suite for those who like a bit more space (and a double Jacuzzi), but it is the surroundings that are perhaps the most important. Views at breakfast are of the foothills and mountains of the regions as the morning haze is burnt off by the sun. There are beautiful gardens and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the region.
