Al Moudira

Luxor, Egypt

Al Moudira

Most of the area's hotels are located on the East Bank of the Nile, among the souvenir shops and busy Nile cruise moorings of Luxor. There are a few exceptions and Al Moudira is one of them, located in peaceful isolation on the West Bank, about a 25-minute drive from Luxor.

Arcaded courtyards, colourful gardens and Oriental collectibles combine to give the air of an Ottoman palace. The ochre and blue walls are inspired by Egyptian temples, and the floor tiles come from an ancient workshop. The 54 individually decorated rooms are large, with wonderful high ceilings, traditional designs and antique furniture. With shady patios and cooling fountains, Al Moudira provides the perfect retreat after a busy day's sightseeing. The architecture and feel is unlike anything else you will find in Luxor, a rare taste of Middle Eastern aesthetics.
