Stay at the opulent Domaine Les Crayères, in central Reims, for a taste of French grandeur mixed with modern amenities. You’ll have easy access to the city and the Champagne countryside, while the property’s extensive grounds provide a relaxing retreat from the everyday.
Le Château de Rilly
Located in the heart of the Champagne region in Rilly-la-Montagne, just south of Reims, Le Château de Rilly dates back to the 18th century, when it was used as a wine house. Its grand cream façade is echoed inside, where chandeliers drip from the ceilings and large bay windows flood rooms with natural light.
Despite its grandeur, the property offers good value, alongside an intimate feel. There are just 15 rooms, each decorated in neutral tones and elegantly furnished with embroidered fabrics and heavy drapes. Some have a private terrace, and all overlook either the village or the surrounding vineyards.
You can dine in the hotel’s own restaurant, which serves seasonal dishes using ingredients freshly sourced from the local area. To explore the nearby countryside, you could hire a bike. You’re also just a short drive or cycle ride from Reims, with its shops, restaurants and Champagne houses. And, after a day of Champagne tasting, you could relax in the wellness area, which includes a Jacuzzi, two saunas and a massage service.

The 15 rooms have an elegant, if slightly plain, decor, with neutral tones of tan, blue and green and luxurious fabrics. All have large windows for plenty of fresh air and sunlight, and the terrace rooms have their own private outdoor space overlooking the vineyards. You can also choose to stay in a standard double or twin room, or a traditional double or twin room, which have a period style. All come with modern amenities including Wi-Fi, a TV and a welcome platter on arrival.
The property is set in the sleepy village of Rilly-la-Montagne and surrounded by vineyards. Staying here, you’re just a 15-minute drive south of Reims and 20 minutes north of Épernay, making it a good base for exploring both towns and the region’s Champagne houses.
