Cuckoo clocks, hiking trails, thermal springs and artisan glassblowing, all in Germany’s Black Forest.

A heavily forested mountain range in southwest Germany, the Black Forest offers gentle green slopes, seemingly countless hiking trails and naturally occurring hot springs. Now the home of Black Forest cake, Black Forest ham and cuckoo clocks, the region was historically known for its large ore deposits and mining. Due to the regular rainfall, the dense trees hold onto moisture, eventually releasing a mist that rises from the treetops, evoking an enchanted feeling.

Our specialists have visited the Black Forest end-to-end, from hiking trails and spas in the smaller resort towns, to the urban city of Freiburg. They’ve seen it all, and can help you plan a trip based on your interests, whether it’s taking a glass-blowing workshop, soaking in the thermal baths or visiting Vogstbauernhöfe, an open-air museum featuring a reinvented farm from 1612.

Freiburg is the biggest city in the Black Forest, and we can arrange for you to experience its popular farmers’ market with a private guide. Or you may prefer to visit the town of Hofgut Sternen to get the full Black Forest experience. Here, you can take part in glassblowing, make traditional Black Forest meals and watch a cuckoo clock demonstration.
