Tierra Viva Saphi

Tierra Viva Saphi

Cuzco, Peru

Situated 500 metres from the centre of Cuzco, this small boutique hotel is a good value base for your time in the city. Remodelled from a 17th century colonial building made of adobe, the property offers plenty of character, with a stone fountain creating a relaxing ambiance to the courtyard seating area.

The hotel's rooms are located around indoor patios and have pleasant finishing touches such as alpaca throws, original artwork and handmade soaps and come well-equipped with modern amenities. Their large windows present wonderful views of the Peruvian highlands.

OUR OPINION:

A great value base from which to explore Cuzco. Rooms are simple but the touches of local artwork and handicrafts, as well as the friendly service, makes this a really welcoming place to stay and definitely one of our favourite hotels in the city.

Rooms

The hotel has three different rooms categories. Each room is comfortably furnished, includes a private en suite bathroom and offers a relaxing retreat from the hustle and bustle of Cuzco. Standard and Superior rooms offer either twin beds or a king size bed, a TV and Wi-Fi access. The Superior rooms offer a more spacious stay than the Standard rooms, but those seeking an even larger option could consider the Suite, which has its own living area. All rooms are decorated in a simple, bright style, with touches such as local artworks adorning the walls.

Location

Turning left out of the hotel, a straight ten-minute walk takes you to the Plaza de Armas. This square is the focal point of the city, and a great example of the architecture and history the city has to offer. Throughout the day and night this square bustles with life and activity and many of our favourite restaurants and cafés are easily accessible from the hotel, although you may find you wish to take a taxi back in the evening.

Food and drink

Breakfast is included in the hotel, and is a simple yet plentiful spread, ideal for filling you up before a day of exploring. The breakfast room is quite small, but service is friendly and quick. There are no provisions for meals outside of breakfast at the hotel, however the variety and quality of Cuzco's restaurants means this is no problem as eating out is such a treat! The hotel's staff will be happy to recommend their favourite places to eat in the area.

Facilities and activities

The property offers a laundry service, currency exchange and complimentary oxygen if required. Guests arriving by air can also benefit from free transportation to the hotel.
