Formerly the palace of the Maharaja of Jodhpur's younger brother, the Ajit Bhawan was one of the first concept heritage hotels. The cottages are set in gardens around the main building and decorated with colourful Rajput fabrics. The hotel is managed by descendants of the royal family, and meals are usually taken in the gardens beside the originally designed swimming pool.
There is a large number of dining options, and although the rooms have a nod to the heritage of the hotel (all are unique) they are still spacious, and come with all expected modern amenities.
It is also possible to pre-book a city tour in one of their many classic cars.
