The Kawaguchi ryokan is a small family run inn with warm, wonderful hosts who speak great English.
The rooms are Japanese in style with futon mats on tatami floors, which are laid out every night. There are shared bathing facilities, reserved for you in advance, in the form of a large hot bath. Dinner is served in the dining room in the traditional Kaiseki manner, and tastes absolutely heavenly. The inn has a suntrap room on the top floor overlooking the shrine in the harbour, where you can relax and read books.
