Stay at Pangolin Voyager Houseboat, Impalila Island

The Pangolin Voyager provides an exclusive and very personal experience from which to enjoy Chobe's beautiful surrounds and fabulous wildlife at a very relaxed pace.

Pangolin Voyager Houseboat, Impalila Island, Namibia

Formally called the Zambezi Voyager, the Pangolin Voyager Houseboat tends to remain on the Chobe River as the game viewing is so excellent (although once a year it passes through the Kasai Channel to the Zambezi River) to view the carmine bee-eater colony.

The comfortably appointed houseboat has only five cabins and caters for a maximum of ten guests. Each cabin has twin or double beds and a compact en suite with shower, wash basin and toilet. The cabin to the front is the honeymoon cabin, which has large windows and offers views over the bow of the boat. The bottom deck — accessed by a covered walkway — contains the bedroom cabins while the middle deck has a large seating area and glass doors leading to an open plan living room with a dining table and bar, plus access to the kitchen. The sides can be completely removed, allowing you to take in the fantastic views while cruising slowly down the river as well as provided a cooling breeze. Doors lead outside to the front of the boat. Here you'll find the captain's bridge as well as steps leading to the upper deck where there are sun loungers and a BBQ.

The boat cruises up and down the Chobe River and at night moors at various points along its bank. The captain and chef live on board in small cabins to the rear of the boat, while the remaining staff live on a pontoon boat nearby.

Activities include game viewing along the river's edge in smaller boats, birding, fly and conventional fishing, as well as visiting one of the local villages who lease the mooring points. A game drive into the Chobe National Park can be arranged at an extra cost. Alternatively, you may wish to stay on the boat and enjoy the game viewing from the top deck.

The construction of the railings around the decks leave gaps which could be large enough for children to climb through, so please consider this when selecting this houseboat for your trip.
