Bushman's Kloof, South Africa

Bushmans Kloof

The Cederberg Mountains, South Africa

This private reserve is now a South African Natural Heritage Site thanks to the efforts that have been made since its inception in 1992 toward preserving and restoring the rich local environment and history. The focus at Bushmans Kloof is on preserving and restoring the indigenous culture and environment, and trying to regain a sense of what the original Africa was like. In addition to this, you get to enjoy an amazing sense of isolation from the modern world, accompanied by endless vistas under huge blue skies.

The delightful settings, high standards of accommodation and service, and great food have enabled Bushmans Kloof to become part of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux group.

OUR OPINION:

This accommodation is perfect for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life for a while and really relax. The game viewing is not the prime draw here, but rather a chance to focus on aspects of a safari that are often ignored in the quest for the Big Five, as well as learning about the local ecosystems. The rock art here is outstanding, and if you wish your whole stay can be geared around learning more about the bushmen and their paintings.
