Duba Plains Camp
Duba Concession, Botswana
The six tents of Duba Plains stand on a shady woodland island. Sandy paths lead to the tents which are raised up on wooden platforms affording lovely views from their verandas of the surrounding floodplains and reed beds.
The tents themselves are large and comfortable with big beds and en suite bathrooms with double basins, WC and shower. There is also a powerful outdoor shower where you can take an afternoon shower in the hot sunshine. The tents include lots of nice touches like bird and animal books and comfy cushions and they are furnished with smart dark wood furniture.
The main boma is raised up on stilts and houses a small but comfortable lounge and bar area with squishy chairs and cushions. The adjoining dining area has a large table to seat all the guests for brunch and dinner and there's always a sociable and lively atmosphere at meals. There's a small pool to the left of the boma and a lovely campfire area looking out onto the plains.
At night the camp comes alive with noises. Fruit bats, cicadas and reed-frogs all compete for attention and the occasional bark from jackal or baboon can also be heard.
The activities at Duba focus on the fantastic game drives: half and full day game drives and night drives are all available here. Walking and mokoro trips may also be available but this does depend on the season. There are some exceptional guides who have in-depth knowledge of the lion prides and can share their information with you.
