Stay at Emerald Lake Lodge
Emerald Lake Lodge has a rustic character and set in a stunning location with a variety of outdoor pursuits on its doorstep.
Emerald Lake Lodge, Canada
The beauty of Emerald Lake will captivate you before even a step has been taken inside the lodge. Despite attracting lots of day trippers, the numbers here are far fewer than at Lake Louise or Moraine Lake. This lake, with its vivid aquamarine colour, is just as beautiful as its two better known cousins.
The lodge is reached across a short wooden bridge and the reception is housed in a delightful timber building with cathedral ceilings and fieldstone fireplaces. Here there is a sitting room with fire, a bar area with outside terrace and the Mount Burgess dining room. This is the fine dining restaurant of the lodge, serving breakfast and dinner. Cilantro on the Lake offers more casual dining and stunning lake views during peak summer months. There is also a deli window at the lodge serving coffee, tea and sandwiches. Upstairs in the main lodge is the Yoho lounge bar and a terrace offering breathtaking lake views.
A room of great charm is the games room with a wonderful antique snooker table. The club house is located in an adjacent cabin and contains a dry sauna, treadmills and an outdoor hot tub and sun deck. Of the 85 rooms there are several types, but each has a wood-burning fieldstone fireplace, plantation blinds and a balcony, but there are no televisions in the rooms. The deluxe rooms are particularly recommended as these have guaranteed lake views.
There are also some stunning walking trails in the area, the most popular of which is the 5.5km hike around the lake. In addition, canoes and fishing rods are available to hire. Jet-boating and white water rafting are available on the nearby Kicking Horse River.
