Hotel Casa Granda
Hotel Casa Granda, Santiago de Cuba, Cuba
The Casa Granda is located on Santiago's main central square Parque Cespedes and like the other colonial buildings set around the leafy plaza is an important historical attraction.
Built as a hotel in 1915 by one of Cuba's original railroad tycoons the Casa Granda has a colourful history and plenty of charm and was described by Graham Greene in Our Man in Havana as 'a hotel frequented by spies'.
The rooms are spacious and elegant yet simply furnished with functional bathrooms and air-conditioning. The roof terrace has a bar and sweeping views over the city to the harbour.
