Melia Cayo Santa Maria
Melia Cayo Santa Maria, Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba
The 'adults only' Melia Cayo Santa Maria is one of a group of three all-inclusive Melia resorts located on the long, white sandy beach at Cayo Santa Maria.
All three of the resorts on the caye are new developments and benefit from foreign investment and management ensuring a higher standard of service and accommodation than some other all-inclusives in Cuba (however it is important to understand that this is only a good resort by Cuban standards, it is still not up to international standards and the service is still slow and laid back and the food is average compared to resorts in many other parts of the world).
The islet is still relatively undeveloped compared with more established areas like Varadero and Guardalavaca. The 360 spacious rooms are thoughtfully laid out in various low rise blocks all with a balcony or terrace and en-suite bathrooms.
The hotel does operate on an all-inclusive basis and therefore the majority of guests are package holiday tourists, but for what it lacks in character it makes up for in good facilities such as the spa, and the location is simply beautiful.
Service is friendly and welcoming and numerous excursions and activities can be arranged during your stay.
