Hotel Santa Isabel, Havana, Cuba

Our rating: Medium

The Santa Isabel is the most impressive of Havana's many colonial hotels. The beautiful former mansion of the Counts of Santovenia has been a favourite hotel for merchants, artists and distinguished travellers since 1867 and enjoys an excellent location on the Plaza de Armas, one of the most important squares in Havana Vieja.

As with many of the colonial hotels in Havana, the Santa Isabel has recently been restored and offers elegant, comfortable accommodation and professional service whilst preserving many of its period features.

The central courtyard is the perfect peaceful hideaway to escape to after exploring Havana and the terrace offers excellent views of the city and Havana Bay. All profits of the hotel are reinvested in the continued restoration of the city's historical centre.
