The Carapace Lodge is composed of 19 rooms within the main lodge area, and 12 comfortable eco-tents, which are located on a hill overlooking the reserve. The rooms in the lodge itself are simple, but fine for a one-night stay. Although not luxurious, they are clean, comfortable and offer amenities such as a flat screen TV and air conditioning. The tents are a more unique option if availability and budget allow, offering a better standard of accommodation, air conditioning and full en suite shower facilities. Although located in a quieter location, they can be noisy at night if the wind gets up along the coast.
Whichever option you choose, we would recommend a stay here. Staying within the nesting area facilitates easy access to the nesting reserve and allows guests to visit the beach before dawn if they wish (in addition to the evening tour), when the turtles are often at their most active.
The following activities are designed to give you the most authentic experiences of the area where you’re staying. We work with local guides, who use their knowledge and often a resident’s eye to show you the main sights and more out-of-the-way attractions. Our specialists can also suggest outdoor pursuits and activities, such as cooking classes, that will introduce you to the traditions of the area’s inhabitants.
