The stylish and comfortable Nong Khiaw Riverside Resort is set among the trees, along the far side of the Nam Ou river valley.
The 15 en suite bungalows, all with balcony views overlooking the village and river, have been tastefully built in keeping with the surrounding area and overall atmosphere of the town. Due to limited electricity in the area, the rooms are not air-conditioned, however they are all equipped with hot water, fans and mosquito nets.
Keen to promote responsible tourism in the area, the owners have mountain bikes for rent and encourage independent but conscientious exploration by their guests.

Walking through small streams and rice paddies you arrive at the bottom of the 100 waterfalls which were only first explored by non-locals in late 2008. The next few hours you will encounter only water and jungle and hear the sound of the waterfall cascades as you physically work your way up through the various levels which stretch upwards for around 1.2 miles (2 km).
