Day 1 Lima

International outbound flight , Lima

Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Lima. Upon arrival in Lima you will be met by your guide and driven to your hotel in the fashionable Miraflores district.

Day 2 Trujillo

Lima , Trujillo

Enjoy a tour of Lima's colonial and historic highlights this morning, including its churches, archaeological sites and even its catacombs. In the afternoon fly north to the pretty colonial town of Trujillo, gateway to Peru's historic northern kingdoms.

Trujillo

Spend the day visiting a number of the archaeological sites outside of Trujillo with your private guide. Visit the huge Adobe city of Chan Chan, and the burial mounds at the Huacas del Sol y Luna.

Day 4 Chiclayo

Leave Trujillo today following the coast north to Chiclayo. This transfer with your own driver and guide, will go via the El Brujo site, famous as a burial ground and for its wall murals. You will arrive in Chiclayo in the afternoon.

Once again your private guide will take you out of Chiclayo to a series of ruins, including the incredible Royal Tombs of Sipan, discovered in 1987 they continue to throw up new finds.

Day 6 Kuelap, Utcubamba Valley

Today begins a stunning journey into the area of the Chachapoyas. This day's drive through stunning scenery traverses the Andes into the mountainous valleys of Amazonas, crossing tributaries of the mighty Amazon. Your hotel for the evening nestles in one of these charming hillsides.

Make the journey to the cliff tombs at Revash today, starting by vehicle before mounting horses. After exploring Revash, you retrace your steps and then visit the fascinating museum at Leymebamba.

The whole day today is spent visiting the incredible ceremonial site of Kuelap, whose walls tower to a height of 19m. The remoteness of the site means only a handful of people visit. You head to the city of Chachapoyas in the evening.

You have a choice today of either hiking to the world's third highest waterfall at Gocta, or head to the remote caves at Karajia, where the Chachapoyas somehow erected three stone statues.

You leave Chachapoyas today, and a day's journey sees you back at Chiclayo where you will overnight.

Fly to Cuzco today, via Lima. Upon arrival in Cuzco you will be met and taken to your hotel in the heart of the former Incan capital. You will have the evening to stroll the Incan streets.

Enjoy a leisurely morning in Cuzco, perhaps watch the world go by at one of the cafes on the central square, before joining a guided tour of the city and the surrounding archaeological sites.

Day at leisure: It's worth visiting the central market, or perhaps even venture further afield to some local villages, such as Tipon and Pikillacta.

You will depart Cuzco for the Sacred Valley. First visit the market and spectacular ruins at Pisac, after this you will make your way through the valley to the town of Ollantaytambo and finally be dropped off at your hotel in the Sacred Valley.

Head from the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu by train, a picturesque journey along the banks of the Urubamba River. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, below Machu Picchu, your hotel will collect your bags and you'll head up to awe inspiring Machu Picchu. Enjoy an in-depth tour of the site with your private guide.
