Makweti Safari Lodge, Waterberg, South Africa
Makweti Safari Lodge is located in the Welgevonden Private Reserve that forms part of the Waterberg. The camp is intimate, with just five secluded stone and thatch chalets. Each has en suite facilities, both indoor and outdoor showers, a Victorian bathtub, a fireplace and a viewing deck offering views of the valley.
The main lodge reflects an African heritage with antique artefacts and hand-beaded fabrics. Candlelit gourmet dinners are served in the romantic dining room or under the starry night sky beside a flickering fire in the boma. You can enjoy the plunge pool or the luxury of relaxing in the sala. The Indaba Lounge offers great views of the waterhole in front of the camp that attracts regular visits from zebra, impala, nyala, baboons and warthog. The area boasts a diversity of game including the Big Five.
Please note that local conservation fees will be charged locally upon departure. Currently it is R145 per person per night.
Please also note that guests cannot self-drive within the reserve. If you are self-driving, you will be met at the main gate where you will park your vehicle and will then be driven to your lodge. The meeting time for the transfer at the main gate is 12h30. On your return from the lodge, the meeting time for the transfer will be at 11h00.
