Sitting on the edge of the Gothic Quarter in the space which was once Picasso’s first studio, the Serras evokes an artistic sophistication. The bright lobby welcomes guests with plush velvet chairs and couches in shades of yellow and blue, while an upper lounge area features quirky seating in patterned fabrics.
The chic rooms are decorated in mostly black and white with vibrant blue or yellow accents. Large windows offer plenty of natural light and soundproofing panels keep the rooms quiet despite the busy road outside. Bathrooms continue the monochromatic theme and feature rain showers and circular mirrors with soft backlighting.
Michelin-starred chef Marc Gascons oversees the hotel’s restaurant, Informal, which serves a carefully curated menu of traditional Spanish fare. His influence can also be seen in the rooftop bar, El Sueño, which in warmer months serves a simple menu of tapas and sandwiches, and signature cocktails year-round. The roof terrace also features a plunge pool and lounge chairs and offers views over the port.
Rooms are decorated primarily in black and white with bursts of blue and yellow in the velvet upholstery. The high-quality mattresses are matched with a pillow menu and each room offers a Nespresso machine, complimentary Wi-Fi and HDTV with plenty of national and international channels. In the bathrooms you’ll find signature bath products from Malin & Goetz and a rain shower, as well as circular mirrors with soft backlighting.
The hotel’s location at the edge of the Gothic Quarter puts it in close proximity to many of Barcelona’s most well-known sites, such as La Rambla and the cathedral, as well as being within easy walking distance of the waterfront Barceloneta district. It is also surrounded by plenty of restaurants, some serving Barcelona's finest seafood.
Food and Drink
The hotel’s restaurant is overseen by a Michelin-starred chef who has devised a menu of creative Spanish dishes from smaller tapas to larger entrees. Chef Marc Gascons also oversees the rooftop bar, El Sueño, where guests can enjoy lighter fare and signature cocktails while taking in a panoramic view of the port. In addition, there is a drinks-only lounge area just above reception that is open 24 hours a day, ideal for an aperitif or quiet morning coffee.
The hotel offers family rooms for couples with children, as well as options for interconnecting rooms for larger families visiting together.
Facilities and Activities
The rooftop terrace features a plunge pool surrounded by lounge chairs and on certain nights a DJ plays at the rooftop El Sueño bar.
A chic and stylish option in an ideal location for exploring the city, The Serras offers contemporary design in a historic building. We also love the high level of service on offer.
