The Franklin, London

The Franklin

London, The UK

This boutique hotel with its exclusive Knightsbridge address provides the standard of luxury found in many of the larger, leading city hotels. The Franklin incorporates four red brick Victorian townhouses and from the outside, there is very little to advertise it as a hotel. Inside, the decor is contemporary and understated, using a monochrome palette. Mirrors reflect the light and the overall effect is elegant and chic.

The hotel’s 35 rooms are all a good size and share a uniform decor of muted tones in various shades of gray along with oak floors and mirrored furniture. Many have wrought-iron four-poster beds. The main restaurant serves Italian cuisine with a twist and the mirrored champagne bar is a sophisticated choice for a pre-dinner drink.

OUR OPINION:

We love the Franklin’s exclusivity and how it feels as if it's hidden away in a prestigious yet local area of London.

Rooms

The 35 chic rooms are all a good size and share an elegant but uniform, monochrome decor of muted tones in various shades of gray, along with oak floors, mirrored furniture and in many cases, wrought-iron four-poster beds. The large sash windows on the lower floors flood the rooms with light and offer views of either the city or over the exclusive residents’ communal garden. All rooms have flat-screen TV, minibar and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Location

Located on Egerton Gardens in Knightsbridge, just a few streets away from the iconic department store Harrods, The Franklin is also less than a five-minute walk from the V&A and the Natural History Museum. The nearest tube station is South Kensington but Knightsbridge and Sloane Square are only slightly further away.

Food and drink

The elegant and sophisticated main dining area features black and white tiled floors, mirrors, palms and views out to the communal gardens from its large sash windows. The menu, creatively designed by its Michelin-star chef, offers superb Italian cuisine with a twist. For an apéritif, the champagne bar with its floor-to-ceiling mirrors and range of champagnes and gins has a relaxed but exclusive atmosphere.

Facilities and activities

The hotel has a small gym in the basement at the back of the hotel and a luxury steam hammam (Turkish bath) area. In-room spa treatments can also be organized for guests. The guest experience team can arrange additional services from a personal shopping experience in Harrods to a specially created jogging route.
