Camp Okavango

Walking in to the main area, you'll find a small waterfall next to the fireplace which gives it a relaxing atmosphere. The main area consists of open sided thatched buildings with a large spacious lounge adjoining the bar. A dining room is separate to the lounge but all lead onto a spacious paved patio area where heavy log furniture is placed around a blazing fire in the evenings. The food here is mainly buffet style served in a big dining area. After dinner you can enjoy a night cap around the fire while listening to the reed frogs surrounding the island.

All 11 spacious rooms are on raised wooden platforms with a front deck overlooking the reeds of the Delta. Each tented room has a big en suite bathroom with a shower only. They are all beautifully furnished with dark woods, white bed linen and colourful rugs. There is also an extra suite that was once the owner’s small house, but has since been converted. Although more spacious and with a bath, the tented rooms do have more character than the suite.

Across the lawns of the garden is a small patio by a plunge pool, very cooling on a hot day.

At the boating station, there is another walkway over the water that leads to a lovely raised decking hide which is ideal for a peaceful afternoon of viewing any activity across the waterways, under the shade of the trees.

This camp offers year-round water activities and there are no game drives. The day can be separated between boat trips, and going to nearby islands for guided walks or spend your time floating about the river on a mokoro.
