Raheem Residency, Backwaters, India

Just a short distance from Kerala's backwaters and located in a quiet part of Alleppey, Raheem Residency is a heritage property situated on an undeveloped beach area.

Built in 1868 with both Mughal and Colonial architectural influences, it was home to the Raheem family for five generations before being restored and converted to a hotel. The eight air-conditioned rooms have en-suite bathrooms and a mixture of Keralan and period furniture. The communal sitting areas are comfortably furnished and the shelves stocked with a variety of books and other reading matter.

The hotel's two courtyards house a swimming pool and Ayurvedic massage rooms as well as plenty of hammocks and comfy chairs to relax in sun or shade. Sea views can be enjoyed from the breezy roof top restaurant where light lunches and simple dinners are served. The property is managed by your Irish hostess Bibi who will help plan interesting excursions into Alleppey and provide a personalised service that also recognises guest privacy.

On the other side of the road to the property, the long stretch of sandy beach is great for walking and joining local people playing volleyball, cricket or frisbee throwing in the early evening. Please note that the beach is not suitable for sunbathing or swimming.
