Boasting classic Cape Dutch architecture, the Oude Werf Hotel is steeped in history. Situated in the heart of Stellenbosch, it's positioned on the spot where a 17th-century thatched church once stood, which was then rebuilt into an inn. While this was destroyed by a fire, a hotel was rebuilt in its place in the early 19th century, restored in 1973 to the building you see today.
While its heritage is still alive, the hotel's interiors are light, airy and contemporary in style, dotted with a few period features and antique furnishings that retain its original character. The 58 rooms are generously sized and flooded with natural light. Some have a small private patio area or balcony, and all have en suite bathrooms.
During your stay, you can unwind in the property's tree-sheltered yard, enjoy the sunset from the coffee-lounge or treat yourself with in-room massages. Breakfast is served each morning under the vines, an all-day menu of light bites is available and you're just a stroll away from the renowned food and wines that Stellenbosch is renowned for.
