Hotel Palacio Villapanés
Housed in a grand 18th-century palace about 15 minutes’ walk from Seville’s cathedral, the Palacio Villapanés blends historical character with chic modern design. You can relax with a drink in the marble-arched central courtyard, or step out onto the large brick-laid patio dotted with fruit trees and couches.
The 50 bedrooms mirror the combination of tradition and modernity. Many have original wooden ceilings and doors, with modern artworks on the walls. Rooms also have a minibar with complimentary soft drinks, and an en suite bathroom with dark tiles and bright monochrome sinks.
A choice of buffet or à la carte breakfast is served in the white vaulted basement. You can order light drinks and snacks at the rooftop bar, right next to the plunge pool surrounded by Balinese loungers. The hotel also has a spa with sauna, hammam and treatment rooms.
The roof terrace and some rooms are accessed by a small number of steps, which could prove difficult for those with mobility issues.
Many of the elegant, well-sized bedrooms incorporate the building’s original wooden ceilings and doors, alongside thoughtful design touches such as modern artworks and textured fabric headboards. All rooms have a TV, air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a minibar stocked with complimentary soft drinks. The bathrooms are decorated in dark blue and black tile patterns, with bright monochrome double sinks. Some rooms in higher categories have deep-soaking bathtubs or fireplaces.
Just on the outskirts of Seville’s historic quarter, the hotel is a 15-minute walk from the cathedral, with its Giralda tower, and close to the Real Alcázar (royal palace). You can stroll to the city’s waterfront in about 20 minutes, and the Plaza de España, site of the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, is about a 25-minute walk away.
Food and Drink
A breakfast with buffet and à la carte options is served in the white vaulted basement space. There’s a bar and cafe on the roof terrace for cocktails and snacks as well as a restaurant, open each evening.
Facilities and Activities
Next to the rooftop bar you’ll find an outdoor plunge pool and solarium, with plenty of Balinese-style loungers to relax on. The hotel has a wellness area, free of charge for guests, where you can take advantage of a sauna, contrast shower, shower massager and steam bath. Beauty and massage treatments are also available, and there’s a small gym.
We love the effortless style and sumptuous elegance of the Palacio Villapanés. Its rooms, public spaces and courtyards blend modern comfort with the history and character of the building, an 18th-century palace.
