Spain & Portugal Specialist

Due to the early exposure of various cultures, having a grandma from Brazil and a grandpa from Italy, I’ve grown up with an innate love of culture and a natural curiosity about the world. Both exuded a sense of knowledge, and spirit that affected me in a profound way.

I graduated high school early to start delving into the world that I wanted to acquaint myself with. At the age of 17 I embarked on a volunteering journey throughout India, Sri Lanka, and Bali. This immersive experience only deepened my admiration for the world of travel and propelled me to study abroad in Barcelona while in college and to become an au pair in France post-graduation. I found myself with an unavoidable desire to pursue a career in the travel industry, driven by my aspiration to curate unforgettable experiences for others based off my own awe-inspiring travel experiences.

Q&A with Kara

Sagrada Família, Barcelona

What’s your most vivid travel moment?

The sun was just setting on one of my first evenings while studying abroad in Barcelona. My friend and I went to explore the city and take in the Spanish culture for our first time. Without even trying to find it, we were immediately met by the beautiful Sagrada Familia. The warm hues of the Spanish sun perfectly highlighted Gaudi’s masterpiece and took my breath away. I’d never seen a building so sculpted with detail and storytelling. Standing there I felt a surreal sense of awe and admiration. Witnessing such a symphony of art for the first time left an incredible impression on my travel memories.

Abu Simbel, Egypt

Where would you love to travel next?

The next destination on my bucket list that I’m hoping to cross off is Egypt. The ancient Egyptian history, the rich cultural heritage, and the coastal cities on the Red Sea, are just a few of the many reasons Egypt entices me to visit. I’m hoping I’ll get to go soon.

Vineyards, Douro Valley

Your best piece of travel advice?

My best piece of travel advice is to be adventurous. Try the foods you wouldn’t normally eat, talk to the locals who you normally wouldn’t talk to, do activities that you’ve never considered doing before. Traveling is a great way to discover new parts of the world, but also a great way to discover new parts of yourself. It’s the perfect opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and make the most of your time away from normality.
