Staying in this reconstructed 1920s village gives you time to discover the history of the area as well as enjoy the beautiful surrounding scenery. Dating back to 1909, but with most of the buildings constructed in the 1920s, this historic pulp and paper mill is being preserved and restored to provide a unique insight into life in the early part of the 20th century. The magnificent Ouiatchouan waterfall provides a dramatic backdrop to the principal mill building and there is a spectacular viewing platform here and cable car to take you to the top of the falls for the best views. In the village itself you can wander into the restored general store, the school house, and see the wooden workers' houses, which are being preserved in their derelict state.
The village offers 25 delightful guest rooms for overnight visitors; these are located either in the General Store or in period village houses. Each has been sympathetically restored to a very high standard, offering all the period charm along with modern day conveniences that include a beautiful modern bathroom, wooden floors, wireless internet access, mini fridge, coffee machine, plasma screen television and bathrobes. Included in your stay is access to the complete historic village, American breakfast at the nearby pulp mill and table d'hote supper.
