Opened in 1917, just steps from Barcelona’s central Plaça de Catalunya, the Hotel Regina is a well-located, classic hotel. Over the years, the property has undergone several renovations but remains true to its heritage while at the same time offering a good level of modern comfort. As well as its ornate Art Nouveau entrance, the hotel boasts a winding original staircase with wrought iron railings.
The rooms are spacious and decorated in a simple, contemporary style with white walls, wooden floors, comfortable beds, Egyptian cotton sheets and soft rugs. All rooms feature tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Although the hotel does not have a restaurant, a generous buffet breakfast is served in a stylish room with exposed brick walls, large windows and fresh flowers on every table. The hotel also features an open-plan piano lounge with historic maps on the walls and an understated retro feel. Live music sessions, popular with locals, are held here roughly once a week.
Simple and stylish with pale woods, modern furniture and muted fabrics, the spacious rooms at the Hotel Regina are simply but comfortably decorated. The white walls are offset by the large windows, while wooden floors are covered in soft rugs. All the linens are 100% Egyptian cotton and each room features tea and coffee making facilities along with complimentary Wi-Fi. All rooms are amply sized and can fit extra beds for families.
Situated on the edge of the Eixample district, right next to the Plaça de Catalunya, the Hotel Regina is ideally located for exploring Barcelona. The narrow lanes of the Gothic Quarter and the central La Rambla are less than 10 minutes’ walk away, while the tapas restaurants and designer shops of L’Eixample are all accessible on foot.
Food and Drink
Breakfast is served downstairs in a light and airy breakfast room with large windows and exposed brickwork. A buffet selection of fresh breads and pastries is available alongside a selection of freshly-cut fruit, homemade yogurts, cheeses, freshly-squeezed orange juice, and a selection of hot dishes. The hotel does not have a restaurant but there are plenty of dining options within easy walking distance.
The hotel is set up well to cater to families. There are children's sized plates and plastic glasses available at breakfast and the hotel also has a number of strollers you can rent.
With its understated ambiance and convenient location, the Hotel Regina is a good central option. We love the Art Nouveau details and find the rooms to be well-sized for such a central property.
