Mike grew up in a small town in New Hampshire, and from a young age knew that he had to go out and see the world. He had his first taste of international travel while in college studying International Relations in Berlin, Germany. Upon graduating, Mike still had an intense itch to get out and see more of the world, so with an interest in languages he decided to venture down to Guatemala. Here he spent time studying Spanish, volunteering with local schools and exploring the region. This time allowed Mike to get under the skin of area and to gain a unique insight into life in Central America. When Mike returned he knew that he had to find a company that would allow him to share his passion within Latin America with people interested in traveling to the region. Since joining Audley Travel, Mike has had the opportunity to return to Latin America visiting Peru and Mexico to expand his love and knowledge of this incredible part of the world.

I'll never forget when…
My most memorable experience was hiking KM 104 to Machu Picchu. KM 104 is a 10 KM hike that finishes on the final segment of the original Inka Trail, and concludes with your first unforgettable view of Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate. The hike takes place on a picturesque ridge line, providing stunning views of glacier capped mountain peaks in the distance, the incredibly restored Winay Wayna Inca ruins built into the side of a mountain, and the powerful Urubamba River carving through the rugged Andean landscape below. The conclusion to this 6 hour hike is unquestionably one of the most rewarding experience you will have during your time in Peru.
