Mvuu Wilderness Lodge

Mvuu Wilderness Lodge is situated on the banks of the Shire River. On the corner of a tributary, the lodge gives you a view of the river on one side and the bush on the other.

It is possible to drive to the lodge through the park or in the rainy season you will take a boat ride up the river to the lodge's jetty. As you come in this way you'll walk past the small swimming pool that is open to the lodge's guests and the rather unique 'loo with a view' ensuring that you don't miss the chance of seeing game at any inopportune moment. The best vantage point is the main bar and dining area where hippo can be seen grazing below you, crocodiles splash around and water bucks are common.

The accommodation at the lodge consists of eight permanent tents, all have open air en suite facilities with shower (the honeymoon tents also have a sunken bathtub), Western WC, and 24-hour hot water complete with complimentary toiletries and dressing gowns. The tents themselves have twin beds, hanging space, a writing desk, electricity, and a veranda with hammock and safari chairs. The location of the tents provides them with privacy and tranquillity. The food served here is exceptionally good, and we defy anyone to be able to eat it all!

Activities here include walks (with armed scout), game drives and also boat trips on the river. Located near to the lodge is also a rhino reserve which is home to around seven black rhino, and while sightings can never be guaranteed it could just be the highlight of your trip. The guides at the lodge are excellent; they are well trained, knowledgeable and informative.
