Itinerary idea in detail

With international flights from a choice of airports including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Cuzco. Arrive in Cuzco and transfer to your hotel in the heart of the historic centre. As you'll be arriving straight into the city, we've recommended a hotel with oxygen enrichment in your room to help you acclimatise. Sample some superb Peruvian cuisine tonight at one of the city's great restaurants.

  • Cuzco is a stunning city steeped in history and stories. This morning your guide will take you on a tour of some highlights. This afternoon we'll book you on a cooking course, where you can meet some other travellers and eat some great food.

  • Travel with your own driver and guide by road out of Cuzco and into the picturesque Sacred Valley of the Incas, enjoying a private guided tour of the key sights such as the Písac Market and ruins and fortress town of Ollantaytambo. If it's clear, spend the night in the valley, and you'll be in for a treat with views of the stars.

  • Transfer to the station in Ollantaytambo to board your train to Aguas Calientes, the small town at the foot of Machu Picchu. Your guide will be with you to take you on a private tour of this iconic city — it really is as stunning as the pictures make it look.

  • Free morning to explore Machu Picchu, again, at your own leisure. Should you wish to climb one of the surrounding mountains we can book that for you, so please do talk to us about it. When you are done exploring you will take the train back to Cuzco, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

  • Say goodbye to your guide and driver as they take you to the airport in time for your flight to the Iguaçu Falls, via Lima. Here you will be met and taken to your hotel. In this version of the itinerary we have splashed out and suggested the Belmond, on the edge of the falls. It's fabulous but not cheap — but then it's not every day you visit the Iguaçu Falls.

  • While Brazil enjoys the panoramic views of the falls, Argentina has all the action, so your guide will take you over the border to explore. The walkways within the park allow you to get up close to this incredible natural phenomena.

  • Spend a free morning to visit the viewing platforms on the Brazilian side of the Iguaçu Falls, before taking an afternoon flight to Rio de Janeiro. Enjoy the evening in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

  • Today take an exciting full-day tour of Rio's highlights, including a trip up Sugarloaf Mountain and the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer. There is also time to see the tranquil botanical gardens. You will also have lunch in a choice of local barbecue restaurants for which Brazil is famous (that will need to be paid for locally).

  • We can leave today free for you to explore, which a lot of people love to do. Perhaps just walk along the beachfront and take it all in. If you want something a bit more planned out then we can suggest a walking tour of the Tijuca Forest, which is included in this itinerary.

  • You've come to the end of your adventure and your driver will transfer you the airport in Rio, in time for your onward international flight. Unless, of course, you ask us to plan some more for you.

  • Arrive home today to complete your journey.
