I grew up with a love of travel, always looking for new places to explore and interesting activities to do while there. I was lucky to travel to many parts of the world, however, I always had a fascination with North America.
After graduating from Bristol University, I was able to embark on the trip of a lifetime — three months camping around the US and Canada. Taking things back to basics, I fell completely in love with the natural beauty and diversity of the US in particular and the extensive array of landscapes I could traverse.
I have returned to the US many times since, embarking on road trips, visiting spectacular national parks and most recently, following the beautiful Californian coastline and enjoying the stunning, undisturbed beauty of the US Rockies and magnificent Yellowstone National Park. My favourite moments from recent trips include an early morning hike along the Mist Trail in Yosemite National Park, and enjoying the most tranquil and scenic sunset float trip along the Snake River, near Jackson, Wyoming.
I'll never forget when…
On a recent whale watching trip in Monterey, all I wanted was to catch sight of a humpback whale as I’d never seen them before. It was so grey and cloudy that the sea almost blended into the sky and suddenly, several of these magnificent whales broke the surface, crashing back into the ocean before diving and surfacing again. They were feeding, and continued for the next forty minutes at least as we all watched spellbound; it was by far the best wildlife experience I’ve ever had, and one I would love to experience again.
