Knight Inlet Grizzly Bear & Salmon Tour

Grizzly bear at Knight Inlet, British Columbia

Enjoy one of nature's great shows as you watch coastal grizzlies, which can be up to 180 kilogrammes heavier than their interior relatives because of the abundant salmon they eat during the annual salmon runs.

The six-hour trip departs from Telegraph Cove and passes at speed through wonderfully scenic rainforest coastal scenery of deep forest and rocky inlets, stopping whenever interesting wildlife is spotted. You are more than likely to see black bears, seals, sea lions, bald eagles, dolphins and even a decent chance of orcas: this really is more than just a water taxi journey to see the grizzly bears at Knight Inlet!

Guests visiting from the final days in August onward will find that with the salmon running, it is necessary to disembark and travel by vehicle to the wooden viewing platforms where they will watch the bears chasing and feeding on the salmon. Every bear has its own preferred fishing technique. Some like to stand in a riffle and pounce when an unsuspecting salmon goes by. Other bears run around trying to corner salmon against the bank.
