Sophie, India & Sri Lanka Specialist

After completing my degree in Philosophy and Italian at university I had a yearning to pack my bags and explore the world. I started off close to home and went to live in Italy for two months, where I partook in a language course. Soon after I decided to travel to India as it had always been a country I had been fascinated by and it certainly did not disappoint.

After being totally enamoured by India and the Subcontinent, I decided I wanted work in a role which would keep me connected to this exciting place and this led me to join Audley. Since working here I have been lucky enough to trek the foothills of the Himalayas in Nepal, spot tigers in the Ranthambhore National Park in Northern India, and walk along the tropical palm fringed beaches in Sri Lanka.

I'll never forget when…

For me the one experience I will never forget is seeing wild elephants in Kaudulla national park. The safari begins by driving through dense forest, eventually leading to vast plains where the wild elephants come down to the water reservoirs and bathe. I have never seen so many herds of elephants playing and grazing. It was beautiful to witness this.
