This boutique property comprises two 19th century houses in an established Capetonian neighbourhood. Both have been beautifully restored; maintaining character and grandeur with a relaxed and comfortable atmopshere. Warm colours combine with bold patterns to create a distinctive feel to Welgelegen, and the high quality of the materials and the attention to detail are evident from the moment you arrive. African art is contrasted with contemporary furnishings, and high ceilings create a sense of space.
Whether you choose to relax in one of the lounges or in the tranquil central courtyard garden, take a dip in the pool or explore the city's many attractions on your doorstep, Welgelegen is an excellent base for your time in Cape Town.
The 13 large, well-appointed and individually decorated rooms have their own en suite bathrooms and provide a quiet retreat during your stay. Each one is spacious and features air conditioning, a seating area and free Wi-Fi access, as well as a flat-screen TV and complimentary tea/coffee making facilities.
Welgelegen lies in the shadow of Table Mountain, situated on a quiet residential street, but close to the shops and restaurants on Kloof Street and only a short distance from the heart of the city.
Food and Drink
Breakfast is served in the courtyard, overlooking the landscaped gardens. Lunch and dinner can be enjoyed in one of the plethora of restaurants on Kloof Street or in central Cape Town, which is one of the world's best culinary cities.
Facilities and Activities
There's a small swimming pool in which to cool off and relax, and a couple of spa treatment rooms where you can indulge in a rejuvenating treatment. There's also a cosy library, allowing you to borrow a variety of books during your stay.
With an enviable position and fantastic views towards Table Mountain, Welgelegen is ideal for those looking for a quiet city location. It's only a short walk away from the restaurants of Kloof Street and an easy drive (or taxi journey) to the V&A Waterfront.
